Duplicate Campaign Registration
Why This Rejection Happens
The system detected that this Brand has already registered a campaign with identical attributes (same Use Case, description, and samples). Duplicate registrations are blocked to prevent confusion and potential "snowshoeing" attempts.
Common Triggers: Accidental double-click on submission, re-registering a campaign to fix a small error without cancelling the old one, or multiple team members working on the same account.
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- Redundant Submission: The exact same data was submitted twice for the same Brand ID.
- Snowshoeing Prevention: Carriers flag attempts to register multiple "Standard" campaigns for the same use case to artificially increase message throughput (a prohibited practice called Snowshoeing).
- Stale Data: An old, expired, or deactivated campaign is still lingering in the system with the same attributes, causing a conflict.
Required Elements
| Element | Requirement | Rationale |
|---|---|---|
| Use Case | Unique per Brand | Brands typically only need one campaign per Use Case type (e.g., one "Marketing" campaign, not five). |
| Campaign ID | Single Active ID | Multiple active IDs for identical traffic streams make audit trails impossible. |
| Throughput | Vetting-Based | Throughput is determined by Brand Vetting Score, not by the number of campaigns registered. |
Step-by-Step Remediation
Audit Your Active Campaigns
Log in to your CSP portal and view the list of Active and Pending campaigns for this specific Brand. Identify the existing campaign that matches the one you just tried to submit.
✓ Clean Account
- Campaign A: Marketing (Active)
- Campaign B: 2FA/OTP (Active)
✗ Duplicate Conflict
- Campaign A: Marketing (Active)
- Campaign B: Marketing (Pending - REJECTED)
- (Content is identical)
Determine Intent
Scenario A: You made a mistake. If you just wanted to edit the old campaign, you generally can't edit a live campaign. You must deactivate the old one before registering the new one if they are identical.
Scenario B: You need more volume. If you are registering a second campaign to get more messages per second (MPS), STOP. This is a violation. You must apply for "TCR Vetting" to increase the throughput of your single existing campaign.
Differentiate or Deactivate
If you genuinely need two similar campaigns (e.g., "Marketing - Sales Team" vs "Marketing - Support Team"), you must make them distinct.
- Action: Change the "Campaign Description" to clearly explain the specific sub-use case.
- Action: Ensure the sample messages are distinct for each audience.
Carrier-Specific Requirements
T-Mobile
- Aggressively fines for "Snowshoeing" (spreading traffic across multiple numbers/campaigns to evade filters).
- Duplicate campaigns are the primary indicator of Snowshoeing.
AT&T
- Limits the number of campaigns per Brand class. Typically allows only 1 campaign per Use Case type.
MyTCRPlus Tools That Can Help
TCR Approval Database
Check if your use case is standard or if you should be using a specific "Mixed" or "Low Volume" campaign type instead.
Use This Tool →TCR Rejection Remediation Tool
Helps identify if the duplicate flag was triggered by content similarity or metadata overlap.
Use This Tool →Pre-Resubmission Checklist
- I have checked my "Active" campaigns list for duplicates.
- I have deactivated any old/stale campaigns for this use case.
- If submitting a new campaign, the description is unique and specific.
- I am not attempting to split traffic to increase throughput (Snowshoeing).
- Sample messages differ from my other active campaigns.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Re-submitting to "Edit"
Users often think they need to start over to fix a typo. If your previous campaign was rejected, edit and resubmit that specific ID if your CSP allows it. Do not create a fresh ID unless the old one is completely dead.
❌ Using "Mixed" Generic Campaigns
Registering multiple "Mixed" campaigns is a huge red flag. Be specific. Register one "Marketing" and one "Account Notification" campaign instead of two "Mixed" ones.
