Excessive EIN Registration
Why This Rejection Happens
This code indicates that the Employer Identification Number (EIN) submitted has exceeded the allowable limit for active brand registrations in the TCR system. Typically, an EIN can only be associated with ONE Brand identity. Trying to register multiple brands with the same EIN triggers this block.
- Creating separate brands for "Sales" and "Support" using the same EIN.
- An old registration from a previous vendor is still active.
- Attempting to register multiple DBAs as separate brands under one Tax ID.
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- Hierarchy Error: Users often confuse "Brands" with "Campaigns." You should have ONE Brand (EIN) and multiple Campaigns under it, not multiple Brands.
- Vendor Lock: If you switched SMS providers, your previous provider may not have released your EIN. The system sees the EIN as "taken."
Step-by-Step Remediation
Consolidate
Do not create a new Brand. Log into your existing Brand profile. Create a new "Campaign" under that brand for your specific use case.
Release Old Registration
If the duplicate is with another provider, you must contact them to "deactivate" or "release" the Brand ID associated with your EIN so you can register it elsewhere.
Pre-Resubmission Checklist
- I am adding a Campaign to an existing Brand, not creating a new Brand.
- I have contacted previous vendors to release my EIN.
