Prohibited Content: Tobacco & Vape
Why This Rejection Happens
Tobacco and Vape products are part of the SHAFT prohibition list. Unlike alcohol, Vape products (even nicotine-free) are almost universally banned on 10DLC. Tobacco is highly restricted and requires rigorous age-gating (21+). This code usually means you tried to market these products without the necessary restrictions or carrier approval.
- Selling vape juice, mods, or e-cigarettes.
- Selling cigars or tobacco without a 21+ Age Gate.
- Marketing "Hookah" lounges without proper age controls.
- Keywords: "Vape", "Smoke", "Cigar", "Nicotine", "E-liquid".
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- The Vape Ban: Most carriers have blanket bans on vaping products due to youth targeting concerns. It is extremely difficult to get approval for vape shops on 10DLC.
- Missing Age Gate: For traditional tobacco (cigars), an Age Gate (21+) is mandatory. Missing it is an instant rejection.
Step-by-Step Remediation
Assess Product Viability
If selling Vapes/E-cigs: Stop. 10DLC is likely not a viable channel. Consider email marketing.
If selling Cigars/Pipe Tobacco: Proceed to Step 2.
Install 21+ Age Gate
For traditional tobacco, you must have a robust age verification popup on your website entrance.
Update Attributes
Ensure "Age Gated Content" is selected in your TCR campaign registration.
Pre-Resubmission Checklist

- My website has a functioning 21+ Age Gate.
- I have selected the "Age Gated Content" attribute.
