Duplicate EIN Usage
Why This Rejection Happens
The Employer Identification Number (EIN) you submitted is already associated with another active Brand Registration in the TCR ecosystem. A single legal entity (Tax ID) generally cannot have multiple Brand profiles unless there is a specific, approved reason (like distinct divisions with separate messaging needs).
- Creating a new Brand profile instead of a new Campaign under an existing Brand.
- A previous vendor/agency registered your EIN and never released it.
- Accidentally submitting the same registration twice.
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- The "Lost" Registration: You worked with an SMS provider 2 years ago. They registered your EIN. You switched providers. The old registration is still active, blocking the new one.
- Misunderstanding Hierarchy: You tried to register distinct brands for "Sales" and "Support" using the same EIN. These should be Campaigns, not Brands.
Correct Hierarchy Structure
| Level | Limit | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Brand (EIN) | 1 per Legal Entity | Identifies WHO you are. |
| Campaign | Unlimited | Identifies WHAT you are sending (Marketing, 2FA, Alerts). |
| Phone Number | 49 per Campaign | The sender ID. |
Step-by-Step Remediation
Check Existing Registrations
Contact your current CSP (messaging provider) and ask if they can see an existing Brand ID for your EIN. If it exists in your current portal, use that Brand ID to create a new campaign instead of registering a new Brand.
Contact Previous Vendor
If the duplicate is with an old provider, contact them immediately. Request that they "Deactivate" or "Release" your Brand registration from their CSP account.
Pre-Resubmission Checklist
- I have confirmed I am not trying to create a second Brand for the same EIN.
- I have contacted previous vendors to release my EIN.
- I am adding a Campaign to an existing Brand, not a new Brand.
