Sole Proprietor Mismatch
Why This Rejection Happens
You registered as a "Sole Proprietor" (using a personal name) but the vetting data suggests you are actually a formal business entity (LLC or Inc) or provided an EIN. Alternatively, the name provided does not match the owner of the mobile number used for OTP verification.
- Providing a Business Name (e.g., "Joe's Plumbing") in the First/Last Name fields.
- Entering an EIN when the entity type is Sole Proprietor (use Standard Brand instead).
- Address provided does not match the personal address of the owner.
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- Data Mismatch: Sole Prop registration requires a human name (First + Last). If you enter a company name, the identity check fails against credit bureau data.
- Entity Confusion: If you have an EIN, you are NOT a Sole Proprietor in the eyes of TCR v2. You are a Standard Brand. Sole Prop is reserved for individuals without tax IDs.
Step-by-Step Remediation
Check Entity Type
Do you have an EIN?
YES: Stop. Register as a "Standard Brand" (Low Volume).
NO: Continue as Sole Prop, but ensure you use your legal First and Last Name.
Correct the Name Field
In the registration form, change "Joe's Plumbing" to "Joseph Smith". You can use "Joe's Plumbing" as the *Brand* name later, but the *Legal Entity* must be the human owner.
Pre-Resubmission Checklist
- I used my personal legal name for the Entity Name.
- I used my personal home address (matching credit records).
- I did not provide an EIN.
Upgrade to Standard?
Standard Brands have fewer restrictions.
