Marketing Flow Without Attribute
Why This Rejection Happens
The vetting agent detected that your marketing campaign contains specific features (like URLs, phone numbers, or affiliate links) that require a corresponding "Attribute" to be checked in the registration settings, but you left them unchecked.
Common Triggers: Sending a sample message with a link (`https://...`) but failing to check the "Embedded Link" attribute box, or sending a phone number without checking "Embedded Phone."
Root Cause Analysis
Primary Triggers
- Embedded Link Omission: Your sample messages contain a URL (e.g., `bit.ly/123` or `brand.com`), but the "Embedded Link" checkbox in the Campaign Attributes section was not selected.
- Embedded Phone Omission: Your samples direct users to call a number (e.g., "Call us at 555-0199"), but the "Embedded Phone" attribute was not selected.
- Affiliate Marketing: The content appears to be affiliate marketing (promoting third-party products), but the "Affiliate Marketing" attribute was not declared.
Required Elements
| If Sample Contains... | You Must Check Attribute... | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| URLs (https://...) | Embedded Link | Carriers filter links more strictly for phishing. |
| Phone Numbers | Embedded Phone | Prevents fraud where scammers direct calls to premium lines. |
| Third-party Offers | Affiliate Marketing | High-risk category requiring specific declaration. |
Step-by-Step Remediation
Audit Your Sample Messages
Look closely at the 3-5 sample messages you submitted. Do any of them contain a website link or a phone number?
✓ Sample A
"Your order is ready. Pick up at 123 Main St."
Action: No special attributes needed.
✗ Sample B
"Your order is ready. View receipt: https://brand.com/r/123"
Action: Must check "Embedded Link".
Review Campaign Attributes
Go to your campaign settings. Locate the "Campaign Attributes" or "Campaign Content" checkboxes. Ensure the boxes match your samples exactly.
Resubmit with Correct Flags
If you found a link in your samples, check "Embedded Link." If you found a phone number, check "Embedded Phone." Save and resubmit.
Carrier-Specific Requirements
T-Mobile
- Strictly enforces attribute accuracy. If you flag "Embedded Link" but send no links, it's usually fine. If you send links without the flag, it's blocked.
AT&T
- Uses attributes to apply appropriate filtering rules. Missing attributes are seen as an attempt to bypass security filters.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Forgetting "Help" Messages
Sometimes the main samples have no links, but the "HELP" response says "Visit brand.com for help." This counts! You must check "Embedded Link."
❌ Age-Gated Content
If you are selling alcohol or tobacco, you must check the "Age-Gated Content" attribute. Missing this on a Marketing flow triggers Code 2200 or 706/707.
